Magical Mexicana!

Time for yet another Frida post, it’s been awhile and it’s raining today in Luxembourg. A woman I admire mucho, and Mexico of course!! Another contribution for the WS “I love…” challenge. Pendant was made with dreambox pendant from ARTchix Studio, added an image from their Viva Frida sticker sheet designed by moi. Text stamp used is from Paperbagstudio. While I’m at it, I’ll be doing a Shrine Pendant Make & Take at Munich’s Stempeloase on 29 June 2010. Stop by and say hello if you can!

Juni 2010 ein  Schrein-Anhänger Make & Take  bei München’s Stempeloase machen. Schau doch einfach vorbei und sage  Hallo!

Somehow I keep stumbling across magazine articles inspired by Frida and thought I’d share some, too inspiring! The German magazine DECO showed Frida inspired home interior and dress style.

So inspirierend! Die dt. DECO zeigte hier Frida-inspiriertes Einrichten und Kleiden.

German LUNA published a black-and-white article with a Frida inspired style and a dash of color.

On the occasion of the opening of the Frida Kahlo retrospective in Berlin (still running until 9 August 2010!) the German VOGUE May issue published a photo sequence from Karl Lagerfeld with Claudia Schiffer. Who would have thought that Claudia looks so good in Frida style, even with bushy eyebrows! While in Berlin in May I thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition and was surprised to see so many people queue for Frida. She still rocks the art world!

And last but not least  I LOVE UK’s Accessorize. London is full with their shops all over and they have several stores already in Germany and just hit the US in Washington DC. Their ethnic style is just gorgeous. The mother company Monsoon brings you beautiful elegant ethnic inspired clothing, not to be missed. For Spring/Sommer 2010 they are travelling with us to Mexico. Here are some of their Mexico inspired products I just love, and take a look at their look-books, I especially like the Monsoon Children, too much fun! And yes, you can order online, they ship worldwide.

“Monsoon has developed a strong brand with a highly distinctive identity. The intrinsic beauty of fabric, colour and technique so evident in the early sourcing of Monsoon’s products from the Far East continues to exercise a strong influence.”

“Monsoon was founded in 1973 by Peter Simon following a period of selling shaggy woollen coats on the Portobello Road and hand block printed clothes from Rajasthan to anyone who would buy them. The original focus was always clothes with an ethnic origin from faraway places, including unusual dresses from Afghanistan and countries en route.”

“In the early 1980’s Monsoon started to sell a small collection of accessories which became so popular that the idea for the innovative new store format Accessorize was born.”

These two are my very own favorite acqusitions from a Munich and a London store:

Whacaca Charm Hoop Earrings                        Freida Floral Fringed Cross Body Bag

Very cool as well, me likes *** Mehr Schönes, dass mir gefällt

Mexicana embellished cuff                        Campeche Floral Tassel Shoulder Bag
