A journal page made for the new WS “Keys” challenge. Inspired by some cool pink/red/black wrapping paper and I suppose mingled with a bit of Halloween. Printed the cut out key also onto the background in pink and red. Kind of hard to see.  
Eine Journalseite gemacht für die neue MS-Schlüssel-Herausforderng. Inspiriert von coolen pink/rot/schwarzen Geschenkpapier und ich denke ein bissl Halloween ist auch dabei. Hab den ausgeschnittenen Schlüssel auch auf dem Hintergrund in Pink und Rod abgedruckt, ist nur noch schwer zu erkennen.

And speaking of keys … check out the cool cover of the upcoming new CREED album Full Circle. Yes, they are back together, so many reunions and new album releases… Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, Alice in Chains, I DIG IT! Lots of keys on the cool cover. Sounds rocking good, CD available as of October 30! Mine is preordered. And I hope they will be touring soon. Already got tickets for Shinedown, Alice in Chains and Nickelback.

WS: Rock’n Roll

Inspired by a recent Metallica concert at Stuttgart’s sold out Schlever-Halle I picked ROCK’N ROLL as this week’s WS challenge and made a page in my journal. I know, they are heavy stuff, but it was one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to. Had an awesome time together with Manja.  Below is a live-version I filmed of their most famous rock balad – Nothing else matters! 

Inspiriert von einem kürzlichen Metallica-Koncert in der ausverkauften Schleyer-Halle hab ich ROCK’N ROLL für die MS-Herausforderung diese Woche ausgesucht und eine Journalseite gemacht. Weiß schon, die sind echt heavy, aber es war eins der besten Konzerte, auf denen ich war. Hatte eine super Zeit zusammen mit Manja. Unten ein live-Mitschnitt von mir mit ihrer bekanntesten Rockbalade – Nothing else matters!

 

Simply brilliant, such a rocking event!!  With the stage in the middle it felt like a real amphitheater event and everybody had a great view. The boys kept moving around making sure someone was always standing on either side. No chance to remain seated on your chair … they rocked the stage and made everyone move. Opted for James Hetfield (lead singer) in my journal page. Had so mach fun and we already look forward to next time. Rock on! 

             

Einfach nur genial, da ging sowas von die Post ab!!  Die Bühne in der Mitte machte daraus ein richtiges Amphitheater-Spektakel und jeder hatte einen super Blick auf die Bühne. Durch regelmäßigen Seitenwechsel stand immer einer der Kerle auf unserer Seite. Keine Chance, auf dem Stuhl sitzen zu bleiben … die haben die Bühne gerockt und rissen alle von den Stühlen. Hab mich für ein Foto mit James Hetfield (Sänger) für meine Journalseite entschieden Hatte riesigen Spaß gemacht, wir freuen uns schon auf das nächste Mal. Rock on!

WS: Goth style

I DIG Daniel Torrente’s goth stamp line and love Tina’s more colorful gothic version for the current WS Goth Style challenge, but since I just moved to a bigger appartment, they are somewhere in one of the maaaany box packed away. So I opted for my fave Gothic Queen, Amy Lee (Hartzler) (in her Alice in Wonderland dress). She’s currently writing songs for the new Evanescence album, yet there’s a brandnew song “Sally’s Song” (see below) performed on Jay Leno the other night from the rereleased Tim Burton movie “Nightmare before Christmas“. The song also appears on Tim Burton’s new Sampler ”Nightmare revisited“. Perfect opportunity to make a quick page in my Project Studio Runway Journal. Quote from Stampers Anonymous. Ich stehe total auf Daniel Torrente’s Gotikstil-Stempel und mag total Tina’s farbenfrohere Gotikversion für die aktuelle MS-Gotikstil-Herausforderung, doch bin gerade in eine etwas größere Wohnug umgezogen und die Stempel sind in einem der viiiiielen Umzugskartons.  Hab mich also für meine Lieblings-Gothic-Queen, Amy Lee (Hartzler) entschieden (in einem Alice-im-Wunderland-Kleid). GPP17 & Alter Bridge

This month GPP17 is about visual journaling and Michelle wants “to set ourselves up with a kit – a box or tote that has many of our favorite tools, ready to use”. Last year a sweet friend surprised me with a Tim Holtz Junk Bag which has been travelling with me quite a bit. I just think it’s so ugly from the outside, but I love the different sections on the inside. Very practical, and I’m much better organized. It only now occured to me that I can change the outside look, duh! Hadn’t thought of that before. But I need to think smaller and lighter when travelling anyway. Love my Snoopy pencil case (found it years ago at H&M) and it normally travels with me to training courses for work and other trips. Yes, I still love Snoopy!! My family thought I’d grow out of it eventually … I just want to take the basics: ruler, scissors, UHU glue, pencil, eraser, various black permanent pens, Gel Pens, black thread’n needle, fave lyra crayons, tape and of course Belinda needs a band-aid (actually got more inside). That’s it!!! Been hoarding Mexico themes fabrics for a few years now and made this Mexico journal for an upcoming trip to Puerto Vallarta/Mexico. Used blank pages since I’m not too experienced yet (me thinks) to work with prepainted pages. I like to doodle but noticed I need to brush up my typography. Have this little font file (with printed alphabets from favorite fonts, see list at end) and will take it along in my journal for inspiration and practicing. Again Michelle, perfect timing. Just took me a bit longer to get my journaling act together. See, hope also remained in Pandora’s box. Finally saw Sweeny Todd this week … a lot of blood, but still brilliant. I think it’s time for Johnny Depp to win an Oscar for best actor on Sunday. My fingers are crossed! He can even sing. Mr Depp, anything you cannot do??? Been a fan since Edward Scissorhands.

Diesen Monat geht’s bei der GPP17 um Visuelles Journaling und Michelle möchte, “dass wir uns ausrüsten – mit einer Schachtel oder Tasche, mit vielen unserer Lieblingsutensilien, benutzbereit”. Letztes Jahr hat mich eine liebe Freundin mit einem Tim Holtz Junk Bag überrascht und es ist schon etwas rumgekommen. Leider finde ich, dass es von außen scheußlich aussieht, doch ich mag total die verschiedenen Fächer. Total praktisch, voll die Ordnung. Gerade im Moment fällt mir ein, dass ich’s von außen doch selbst verändern kann … Warum ist mir das nicht vorher eingefallen! Doch zum Reisen muß ich echt kleiner denken. Liebe mein Snoopy-Mäppchen (vor Jahren bei H&M gefunden) und normalerweise reist es mit auf Schulungen für’s Büro und andere Trips. ja, ich liebe immer noch Snoopy!! Meine Familie dachte immer, dass ich da mal rauswachse … Will aber nur das Wichtigste mitnehmen: Lineal, Scheren, UHU-Stift, Bleistift, Radierer, verschiedene Permanentmarker, Gel-Stifte, Nadel + schwarzer Faden, Lieblings-Lyra-Stifte, Tesafilm und natürlich braucht Belinda PFLASTER (sind noch mehr im Mäppchen). Das wär’s schon!!! Seit ein paar Jahren sammle ich Mexiko-Thema-Stoffe und hab jetzt dieses kleine Mexiko-Journal für eine Reise nach Puerto Vallarta/Mexiko nächsten Monat gemacht. Hab weiße Seiten gelassen, da ich wohl noch nicht erfahren genug bin, um mit vorgemalten Seiten zu arbeiten. Ich mal gerne herum (am liebsten früher im Hausaufgabenbuch hihi), doch ist mir aufgefallen, dass ich meine Typographie üben muss. Hab mir deshalb ein paar schöne Alphabete von Lieblingsfonts (siehe Liste unten) ausgedruckt. Die nehm ich zur Inspiration und Übung mal mit. Und schon wieder war es perfektes Timing Michelle. Nur hat’s mit dem Journaling diesmal etwas länger gedauert. (Siehste, Hoffnung verweilte noch in Pandora’s Büchse.) Hab diese Woche endlich Sweeny Todd gesehen … viel Blut, doch blutig-brilliant. Es wird Zeit, dass Johnny Depp am Sonntag einen Oscar als bester Schauspieler gewinnt. Er kann sogar singen! Herr Depp (er kann ja nix für seinen Nachnamen hihi), gibt’s irgendwas, das Du nicht kannst? Bin ein Fan seit Edward Scissorhands.

And since it’s all Michelle’s fault anyway … I did join the ALTER BRIDGE street team earlier this year (no, not HIM, sorry!) and made these Rock’n Roll Chicas which I will send to my fave cal radio station ELDORADIO and to L’Atelier (small live club) along with their current CD Blackbird. Hope they will finally start playing these guys, they are so awesome!! Below are a few pictures from a past concert in Madrid/Spain since I didn’t make it this year to one yet. Marc Tremonti rocks the guitar!! And they will be playing at Rock am Ring and Rock im Park this Summer, see you there Michelle. ***

Und das es sowieso Michelle’s Schuld ist … bin im Januar dem ALTER BRIDGE Street Team beigetreten (nein, nicht HIM, sorry!) und hab diese Rock’n Roll Chicas gemacht, die ich nun zusammen mit der aktuellen CD Blackbird an meinen Lieblingsratiosender ELDORADIO und an’s L’Atelier (kleiner Live-Club) geschickt habe. Nicht nur müssen die Jungs hier endlich mal live auftreten, sondern ihre Musik sollte auch endlich mal im Lux-Radio gespielt werden, sie sind einfach zu cool! Hier ein paar Fotos von einem vergangenen Konzert in Madrid/Spanien, hab es dieses Jahr noch nicht geschafft. Marc Tremonti rockt die Gitarre!! Und im Sommer werden sie bei Rock am Ring und Rock im Park auftreten, wir sehn uns dort Michelle.

Today is my sister Beatrice’s birthday and her husband just put up 2 of her videos on YouTube. Here she is singing one of my favorite aria – O mio babbino caro from Puccini. Gives me the goose bumbs every time I hear her sing it!!! Happy Birthday Sweetie! And yes, that IS her real voice, nothing dubbed (she’s a professional opera singer). No, I am a normal alto if I do have to sing. *** Heute hat meine Schwester Beatrice Geburtstag und ihr Mann hat gerade 2 ihrer Videos bei YouTube eingestellt. Hier singt sie eine meiner liebsten Arien – O mio babbino caro von Puccini. Krieg immer Gänsehaut, wenn ich sie es singen höre!! Herzlichen Glückwunsch Süße! Und ja, das IST ihre richtige Stimme, nix getürkt (sie ist eine professionelle Opernsängerin). Nö, ich hab mal gerade eine normale Alt-Stimme, wenn’s denn sein muß.

Frida Lightbulb Shrine

Here’s my Frida Lightbulb Shrine finally finished. The timing could not have been better for ARTchix Studio to carry Mexican paper flowers – carnation, roses and calla lilies! Now it’s more authentic, even replaced the calla lilies I put on before. What looks really cool in real is the Dye-na-flow I used for coloring the lightbulb. I used teal and sun yellow and just let it run. Exactly what I hoped for. An angel transparency from the Munich cemetry fit perfectly over her face. The shrine itself was made from recycled materials, the base used to be a loud speaker!  Have you heard the latest cd from Lila Downs – La Cantina? Just fabulous. Found this cheerful video on YouTube with a song in Mayan from an earlier cd Border (also fab). She’ll be touring Germany next month, but I’ll be travelling … sigh … *** Hier is mein Frida Glühbirnen-Schrein, der nun endlich fertig ist. Timing hätte nicht besser sein könne, dass ARTchix Studio mexikanische Krepppapierblumen führt – Nelken, Rosen und Callas! Nun ist er noch authentischer, hab sogar die vorigen Callas ersetzt. Was wirklich cool aussieht ist das Dye-na-flow, mit dem ich die Glühbirne gefärbt hab. Verwendet wurden Teal und Sun Yellow und hab’s einfach laufen lassen. Genau so, wie ich’s mir gewünscht hatte. Über ihr Gesicht hab ich ein Engel vom Münchner Friedhof auf Transparentfolie (fand ich zufällig) aufgeklebt und passte. Der Schrein selbst ist aus recycelten Gegenständen gemacht, und der Ständer unten war mal ein Lautsprecher. Schon was von der letzten CD von Lila Downs – La Cantina gehört? Total klasse. Hab das fröhliche Video gefunden, ein Lied in Maya von der älteren CD Border (auch klasse). Sie tourt Ende Juli durch Deutschland, aber natürlich bin ich unterwegs … seufz …

Chaiyya Chaiyya

I love Maroccan food and on Friday night my oriental dance group went to Palais du Maroc, a small restaurant on the outskirts of Luxembourg city. They serve the most delicious food!! Here’s the restaurant’s bellydancer with one of the well advanced (and courageous) students. The restaurant is so beautifully decorated, we all wanted to take the food, the lamps and cushions home. If you like Marocco, you’ll also enjoy Maryam’s fabulous blog My Marrakesh, which I visit regularly for my oriental dose. Now moving on to Indian dance, I regularly get queries on Chaiyya Chaiyya, thought I’d post the words here in Urdu/Latin, German and English. Got it from an Indian dance teacher who had it translated to be more true to the Original than in the subtitles in the movie. In India it’s hot and in the shade temperatures are simply more bearable. Especially for lovers … A great dance choreography can be learned from the DVD Bollyrobics, choreography from Andrew Lloyds Webber’s Bombay Dreams, as well as the song Maahi Ve. The third choreography is Monama from the movie Indian Love Story. What I like about Bollywood are the costumes and dances. *** Ich liebe Marokkanisches Essen und am Freitag waren wir mit meiner Orienttanzgruppe im Palais du Maroc, einem kleinen Restaurant am Rande von Luxemburg-Stadt. Dort gibt es das köstlichste Essen!! Hier ist die Bauchtänzerin des Restaurants mit einer unserer weit fortgeschrittenen (und mutigen) Schülerinnen. Das Restaurant ist so wunderschön dekoriert, dass wir alle das Essen, die Lampen und die Kissen mit nach Hause nehmem wollten. Wenn Du Marokko magst, wird Dir vielleicht Maryam’s toller Blog My Marrakesh gefallen. Bin dort regelmäßig für meine orientalische Dosis. Und jetzt geht’s zum Indischen Tanz, da ich immer wieder Anfragen zu Chaiyya Chaiyya habe, ist hier unten nun der Text in Urdu/Latin, Deutsch und Englisch. Hab ihn von einer Indischtanzlehrerin bekommen, und der Text ist nähmer am Original als in den Untertiteln auf dem Film. In Indien ist es heiß, und im Schatten sind die Temperaturen einfach erträglicher. Besonders für Verliebte … Eine prima Tanzchoreographie gibt’s auf der DVD Bollyrobics, Originalchoreographie aus Andrew Lloyds Webber’s Bombay Dreams, und auch das Lied Maahi Ve. Die dritte Choreographie auf der DVD ist Monama aus dem Film Lebe und denke nicht an morgen. Was mir an Bollywood gefällt sind die Kostüme und Tänze.
