WS: Santa Claus

Another fabric ornament, this time a Santa Claus Icicle Doll, made for the new WS Santa Claus challenge. Stamps used: Inkadinkado damask, Stampotique’s Jeepers and Turtle Press Alphabet. Glimmering Hope (below) is glimmering as well as an Icicle Doll on my tree.

 
Ein weiterer Stoffanhänger, dieses Mal ein Nikolaus Icicle Doll, gemacht für die neue MS-Nikolaus-Herausforderung. Verwendete Stempel: Inkadinkado Damask, Stampotique’s Jeepers und Turtle Press Alphabet. Glimmering Hope (unten) schimmert auch als Icicle Doll an meinem Baum.

Patty wants to know what comes to my mind when I think of the number THREE for the new WS challenge! HA!  Three ornaments done for my gothic christmas tree this year and many more to come. Halloween did it to me and I’m really enjoying the purple-black combo. AND the Stampotique/Penney-Torrente images. Last month I found these purple glass ornaments with a wonderful velvet embossing at my local Auchan (supermarket) and I knew I wanted to prep up my black baroque thingies from the past years with purple. Been having GREAT fun I must say. And know I need to get a Bernina, my Singer is testing my patience big time! Dinner table now turned into painting and stitching table. Oh, recognize the Inkadinkado damask stamp? It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas tralala …

Patty will wissen, woran ich bei der Zahl DREI für die neue MS-Herausforderung denke. HA! an  die drei Baumanhänger, gemacht für meinen diesjährigen Gothic Weihnachtsbaum, und einige werden noch folgen. Halloween ist an allem Schuld und mir gefällt total die Lila-Schwarz-Kombi. UND natürlich die Stampotique/Penney-Torrente Motive. Hab letzten Monat diese lila Glaskugeln im hiesigen Auchan (Supermarkt) gefunden und mag total die samtigen Ornamente drauf. Wollte meine vergangenen schwarzen Barokteile mit Lila aufpeppen. Macht VOLL Spaß muß ich sagen. Allerdings weiß ich auch, dass ich mir eine Bernina kaufen werde, meine olle Singer stellt meine Geduld mehr als auf die Probe! Wohnzimmertisch ist nun umfunktioniert zu einem Mal- und Nähtisch. Oh, ist Dir auch der Inkadinkado Damask-Stempel aufgefallen? It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas tralala …

A marvelous fabric time

Spent a marvelous fabric weekend in Bad Aibling with Munich stamping gals last month. Karola owns a fabulous hotel the Schmelmer Hof where we were warmly welcomed and had our own fabric working room of course. Manja organized the retreat and Magda, a professional seamstress and clothing engineer,  introduced us to machine quilting and surface design. Belinda forgot her camera of course, snatched this pic from Manja’s blog. She’s has shared great pics here if you want to take a peak. I cannot present anything finished since I rarely finish something these days anyway. Plus I realized I need a special free stitching needle foot for  my machine, but at least it’s fixed now and makes beautiful straight stitches. 

Hab ein wunderschönes Stoffwochenende letzten Monat in Bad Aibling mit Mädels vom Müncher Stempelstammtisch erlebt. Karola besitzt ein schönes Hotel, der Schmelmer Hof , der uns herzlich begrüßt und wir unseren eigenen Stoffwerkelraum. Manja  hat das Ganze organisiert und Magda, eine Profi-Nähering und Bekleidungsingenieuring,  führte uns ins Maschinenquilten und Ssurface Design ein. Belinda hat natürlich die Kamera vergessen. Manja hat etliche Fotos auf ihrem Blog hier, sollte es Dich interessieren. Kann nix Fertiges zeigen, da Vieles irgendwie angefangen bleibt. Hatte vorort aber auch erst kapiert, dass ich noch einen speziellen Nähfuß für meine Singer-Maschine brauche. Nun denn, wenigstens näht sie nach der Reparatur wieder gerade Strich einwandfrei. Auch schon was. 

Started the above little fabric book by dying and stamping onto white fabric. Wanted to use my Stampotique images, so it will be the Stampotique Zone book! It’s simply folded together accordion style. Still a long work-in-progress, but I’m getting there and I try to add hand sewing and machine sewing. I love the newer large image, be warned though that Leeta isn’t correctly mounted (found that out the hard way!!).
Hab das obige kleine Stoffbuch dort angefangen, indem ich weißen Stoff gefärbt und bestempelt habe. Wollte meine Stampotique-Stempel verwenden, es wird also ein Stampotique Zone Buch! Es wird einfach zusammengefaltet im Leporello-Stil. Hab erst angefangen, aber etwas kann ich schon zeigen. Bemühe mich, Handgenähtes mit Maschinenstichen zu kombinieren. Mag total gerne die neuen großen Gesichter, doch Achtung, Leeta ist nicht korrekt montiert (nervig, nervig!!).

Everybody liked my Sewzy, spontaneously several spent Saturday evening and Sunday making a fabric doll using my template here. Nice parade, isn’t it?
Alle mochten meine Sewzy, so haben einige spontan am aSamstag und Sonntag eine eigene genäht, Schablone gibt es hier. Schönes Gruppenfoto, oder?

Since it’s a fabric post, look at my latest fabric delivery, new Kaffe Fassett fabrics and batiks. Oh my, I always delight in his fabrics – the pattern and colors just make my heart sing! Will soon be put to use.
Da dies ein stoffiger Beitrag ist, kann ich auch meine neuesten Stofferrungenschaften zeigen, meine neuen Kaffe Fassett-Stoffe und Gebatiktes. Also wirklich, diese Stoffe sind so herrlich – die Muster und die Farben sprechen meine Seele einfach an! Werden bald zum Einsatz kommen.

Heart Book Project

Cindy invited a few Artchix Sistas to a fun Heart Book Project! She sent each participant a heart shaped board book (6 pages) plus a mailing schedule. Over the next 5 months we will collage and embellish each a page for one of the sistas and send it to her directly. Not your regular swap nor a usual round robin. My first heart page is for Sanna, who picked white washed laundry love as a theme for her book. Sweet … and HIGHLY difficult for me since white is something I try to stay away from. haha Gesso and lace make me turn cutesy, cannot help it, difficult to photograph. Found a virgin Stampers Anonymous paisley stamp in my drawer, and used it for the first time in the background. Another Miss Paisley, this time white washed, saying “spoil me” with love! Still working on the back side, yet here’s the collaged background. Liked it and scanned it, large enough to download and print out HERE, if you like it. Let’s see what I’ll do with it, just needs to get a white wash. Wanna try and make one side each mixed media, the other one flat. Went to town here, and had fun. Stitching is very difficult, 3 X-es was all I could manage. The rest is glued on. Another entry for the WS Paisley challenge. Below are my Indian wood print blocks I purchased the other year in London from an Indian master carver. They print just beautifully! Cindy hat einige Artchix Sistas zu einem tollen Herz-Buch- Projekt eingeladen! Sie hat jeder Teilnehmerin ein Pappherzbuch (6 Seiten) plus Versandplan geschickt. Während der nächsten 5 Monate werden wir diese Seiten bearbeiten für je eine andere Teilnehmerin und jeder direkt senden. Kein gewöhnliches MAP-Projekt noch ein überlicher round robin. Meine erste Herzseite geht an Sanna, die sich als Thema white washed laundry love ausgesucht hat. Süüüß … und HÖCHST schwierig für mich, da ich mich von weiß meist fern halten. haha Mit Gesso und Spitze wirds halt immer niedlich, schwer zu fotografieren. Hab einen nagelneuen Stampers Anonymous Paisleystempel in meiner Schublade gefunden, und erstmals im Hintergrund benutzt. Eine weiterer Miss Paisley, dieses Mal weißgewaschen, die sagt “spoil me” with love (verwöhn mich mit Liebe). Rückseite noch nicht fertig, doch hier ist schon mal der Hintergrund. Gefiel mir so gut, dass ich ihn eingescannt hab. Groß genug zum Herunterladen und Ausdrucken HIER, wems gefällt. Mal schauen, was ich damit mache. Muss auf jeden Fall weißig werden. Vorderseiten will ich Mixed Media machen, die Rückseiten flache Collagen – hoffentlich klappts damit. Da es schwer ist durch diese Graupappe zu nähen, hab ich gerade mal 3 X-e versucht, der Rest ist aufgeklebt. Ein weiterer Beirag zum MS-Thema Paisley.

WS: Mixed Media

I picked Mixed Media to be this week’s new WS challenge since it shows best the versatility of rubberstamps and is my fave anyway. Here’s my i-pod nano case I made for myself. I have two now and want to make more. Perfect for use at the gym and when travelling on the bus, train or plane. Seether has been my favorite band lately, help me best to sweat mucho while working out. Stamps from Stampotique and Stampers Anonymous. My ole sewing machine has been driving me nuts as you can see on the edges (don’t zoom in!), will get it checked soon. Found a good shop here in Luxembourg. Need it to be working smoothly for the sewing weekend in July.

Diese Woche hab ich  Mixed Media als neue MS-Herausforderung ausgesucht, das es super die Vielseitigkeit von Stempeln zeigt und ich es sowieso am liebsten verwende. Hier ist mein i-pod nano-Täschchen, dass ich mir gemacht hab. Mittlerweile hab ich zwei und es werden sicherlich noch mehr. Ideal für’s Sportstudio und unterwegs mit dem Zug, Bus oder Flieger. Seether hör ich in letzter Zeit am liebsten, ideal für ein verschwitztes Workout. Stempel sind von Stampotique und Stampers Anonymous. Meine olle Singer-Nähmaschine treibt mich zur Verzweiflung (besser nicht die Ränder näher anschauen). Hab aber endlich hier in Lux einen Laden zum Durchschauen und Überholen gefunden. Für’s Nähwochenende im Juli soll sie doch fit sein und endlich mal wieder ordentliche Nähte zaubern.

Made a fabric gothic arch with a Zetti button doll. She’s finally travelling to her new home (I’m such a slow boat!). *** Zuallererst vielen lieben Dank für all die netten Kommentare über den Blog oder privat. Find ich immer sehr lieb und sie verschönern den Tag. Hab mal wieder etwas gestoffelt, und auch was geschenkt bekommen. Hab einen Stoffgotikbogen mit einer Zetti Button Doll gemacht. Sie ist endlich unterweg zu ihrem neuen Zuhause (ich bin auch eine lahme Ente!).

Got this fabulouso black bird in a surprise package from the generous Dawnie! Love how she used a felted piece for the front. Quite a übertalented lady with such awesome taste!! Thank you so much again. *** Hab diesen tollen schwarzen Vogel in einem Überraschungspaket von der großzügigen Dawnie bekommen! Besonders toll ist das gefilzte bunte Vorderteil. Schon eine übertalentierte Frau mit ausgezeichnetem Geschmack!! Nochmals vielen lieben Dank.

Been dreaming of travelling to Bali for a long time (who doesn’t!?). Well … I’m not quite there yet, but in anticipation of my upcoming travel to Bali I started making a Bali Jounal to take along for a retreat with Anahata. Couldn’t resist painting up the cover image which is more India inspired , but I think it works for Bali/Indonesia as well. Decided to pull out the next best thing next to Kaffe Fassett, my Bali Batik fabrics. The cover isn’t finished yet, I just don’t have anything more in gold. Hope to find things to add to the top and the right side. Thanks to Kelly I’m in journaling mode.

Träume schon lange davon, nach Bali zu reisen (wer tut das nicht!?). Tja… bin zwar noch nicht ganz da, doch in Vorfreude auf meine kommende Reise nach Bali hab ich angefangen, mir ein Bali Jounal zu machen für die Workshops mit Anahata. Konnte nicht widerstehen und hab was für den Deckel gemalt, eher eine Inderin, doch ich denke sie passt auch prima nach Bali/Indonesien. Entschloß mich, meine Bali Batik Stoffe zu verwenden, die ich genauso liebe wie Kaffe Fassett. Buchdeckel ist noch nicht fertig, hab so gut wie nix Goldenes. Hoffe, dass ich dort Sachen finde, die ich oben und auf die seche Seite anbringen kann. Dank Kelly bin ich ja im Journal-Modus.

Stoffen Spektakel

My local art friend Laurence told me the other day about this upcoming event here in Luxembourg – Stoffen Spektakel! Something to look forward to. A travelling event throughout the year touring 24 cities. The site is also in German and French, go there if you live in the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg.  If you live in a bordering country (Germany/France), have a look, it might worth a visit.

Meine hiesige Kreativfreundin Laurence erzählte mir kürzlich vom Stoffen Spektakel hier in Luxemburg! Endlich auch hier mal stoffmäßig was los. Eine Reise-Ausstellung durch 24 Städte (Bernina ist auch mit dabei). Natürlich von den Niederländern in Gang gesetzt, Seite oben ist sogar in Deutsch! Solltest Du in BeNeLux oder in Grenznähe, schau einfach mal vorbei! Und freu Dich auf dieses Stoffe und Nähzubehörparadies!

Mixed-Media Journal

Thought I’ll show on my blog as well and not only the ning site -  my new mixed-media art journal!! Decided to sign up for the fabulous Kelly Kilmer’s A Prompt A Day class. She’s fun and cool and I love her blog. Mucho organized classes and the perfect journal cheerleader for me! I need that. Started out with an old discarded German book cover about plants. This was the best excuse for me to use Kaffe Fassett fabrics inside and out, buttons, fibers and beads and of course a cool Goth girl from Daniel Torrente/Stampotique. FUN FUN FUN!!! Inside are signatures made of folded watercolor paper, strong enough to hold mixed-media doodads. I keep getting asked where I buy my Kaffe fabrics. Bastelkiste here in Luxembourg sells them, though most of the time I order them online from Glorious Color (best deal and smal min. sizes) and eQuilter.

Dachte ich stell’s auch auf dem Blog ein anstelle nur auf der ning-Seite -  mein neues Mixed-Media Art Journal!! Hab mich entschieden, die A Prompt A Day Klasse mit der tollen Kelly Kilmer zu machen. Sie hat Humor, ist cool und ich mag ihren Blog. Mucho organisierte Klassen und die perfekte Journal-Cheerleaderin für mich! Brauch sowas. Hab alte zerfledderte  Buchdeckel eines dt. Buches von 1947 über Pflanzen für den Bucheinband verwendet. Perfekte Ausrede, um meine Kaffe Fassett-Stoffe innen und außen einzusetzen, und natürlich Knöpfe, Bänder, Perlen und ein cooles Goth girl von Daniel Torrente/Stampotique. MACHT GUTE LAUNE!!! Innen sind gefaltete Aquarellpapierseiten, stark genug für mein Mixed-Media-Gedöns.

What a happy day!

Another fabric page in Tina’s book made for the new WS challenge “(hand)bags“.  How did I get the Daniel Torrente stamp on the fabric you might wonder? Stamped it with StazOn onto a transparency and painted the back with white acrylics (gesso would works as well). Transparencies are so versatile, love them! Tina really challenged me with her Kaffe Fassett fabric pages since it was sooo hard to cover up this fabulous fabric. Tried to keep it to a minimum. Text stamps from Turtle Press, printed with acrylics.

Eine weitere Stoffseite in Tina’s Buch gemacht für die neue MS-Herausforderung “(Hand)Taschen”. Wie hab ich den Daniel-Torrente-Stempel auf den Stoff gekriegt magst Du Dich fragen? Mit StazOn auf eine Transparentfolie gestempelt und von hinten mit weißer Acrylfarbe bemalt (weißes Gesso geht auch). Transparentfolien sind so vielseitig, liebe sie! Tina hat mich wirklich mit ihren Kaffee Fassett-Stoffseiten herausgefordert, es war sooo schwer, diesen herrlichen Stoff zu überdecken. Hab mich bemüht, es auf ein Minimum zu beschränken. Textstempel von Turtle Press, mit Acrylfarben aufgedruckt.

Fabric Heart for a pocket

Tina made a sweet fabric pocket book for our rr and used Kaffe Fassett fabrics almost everywhere. So you can imagine the colorful and whimsy play on the pages – circles galore! Finally managed to add my touches. It’s a sweet little book now ressembling more a sculpture, filled to the rim with fiber and mixed-media luv. Helga challenges us this week to make a valentine, so I thought I’ll make another thing for the pocket, a heart she could hang anywhere. L’artiste stamp from Stampers Anon. For the heart, I stamped handwritten text onto paper, painted it with beige and glued it behind the woman transparency with UHU glue stick.

Tina hat ein süßes Stoffbüchlein mit Taschen für unseren RR gemacht und dabei Kaffe Kassett-Stoffe fast überall verwendet. Kannst an dieser Doppelseite sehen, wie bunt es ist und verspielt mit all den Kreisen etc. Hab meine Seite endlich gemacht. Das Buch ähnelt mehr einer Skulptur, da die Seiten gefüllt mit Fäden und Mixed-Media-Herzlichkeit. Helga fordert und diese Woche auf einen Valentinsgruß zu machen, hab mich dann entschlossen, noch etwas für die Tasche zu machen, dass sie aber überall hinhängen kann. L’artiste-Stempel von Stampers Anon. Für das Herz hab ich einen handgeschriebenen Textstempel auf Papier gedruckt und diesen anschließend mit beiger Acrylfarbe übermalt und mit UHU-Stift hinter die Frau auf Transparentfolie geklebt.

Of Klimt and Matryoshkas

I knew I would enjoy working in Jacky’s fabric gothic arch book (check out her book HERE)! Since she loves Klimt as well I knew it had to be a Klimt theme. Wanted to make a shrine with doors to open but Dawnie had the same idea (check it out on her blog here and HERE’s her own book). So I had to think of something else. Instead I made a pocket arch page which could hold a Santa Klimt and a pointed quatrefoil window. Was surprised how many golden ribbons I have in my possession.

    

Ich wußte, dass ich viel Spass hätte, in Jacky’s Stoff-Gotikbogenbuch (unbedingt ihr Buch HIER) anschauen! Da sie auch ein Klimt-Fan ist mußte es natürlich ein Klimtthema sein. Wollte eigentlich einen Schrein mit öffnen Türen machen, doch Dawnie hatte die gleiche Idee (ihre nadelgefilzten Schrein kannst Du hier sehen und HIER ist übrigens ihre eigenes Zetti-Buch). Somit mußte ich mir was anderes einfallen lassen. Stattdessen hab ich eine Gotikbogenseite als Tasche gemacht, mit einer Santa Klimt und einem spitzigen Vierpass-Fenster. War erstaunt, wieviele goldige Bänder ich in meinem Fundus habe.

Sweet Dot surprised me with this adorable fabric Matryoshka (or known as Babooshka) made with love and Kaffe Fassett fabrics. And if that wasn’t enough, she also treated me with two Dotee Doll kits, unmistakebly Dotee-Art stickers, this amazing fabric selection and a wonderful handmade large glass bead. I’m totally enchanted and overwhelmed!

 

Die liebe Dot hat mich mit dieser zuckerzüßen selbstgemachten Matrjoschka (oder auch Babuschka) überrascht, gemacht mit Kaffe Fasset Stoffen. Wenn das nicht schon noch reicht, dann gab’s noch herrliche Stoffe, Dotte Doll-Päckchen zum Selbermachen und unverwechselbare Dotee-Art-Sticker und eine wunderschöne große handgemachte Glasperle. Bin noch total entzückt und überwältigt.

 

A good opportunity to show this wonderful religious Matryoshka shrine I saw in Prague last September. Loved the carved shrine opening, fab idea! And of course there were plenty of Mucha and Klimt Matryoshkas. And some wooden dolls, great painted details, woodburning etc. Eggzelent were also the painted Mucha eggs (below)!

Eine gute Gelegenheit, den wunderschönen religiösen Matrjoschka-Schrein zu zeigen, den ich in Prag in einem Laden letzten September sah. Find die Öffnung klasse, super Idee! Und natürlich gab’s viele Mucha und Klimt Matrjoschkas. Und Holzpuppen mit wunderschön gemalten Details, Brennarbeiten etc. Eggzelent waren auch die bemalten Mucha-Eier (unten)!

 

And another fabric gift arrived – kind Rini spoils me with a beautiful scented friendship fabric pillow (below!) in perfect colors. Thank you so much Rini.

Und ein weiteres stoffiges Geschenk erreichte mich – die nette Rini verwöhnt mich mit einem wunderschönen duftendem Freundschaftskissen (oben) in herrlichen Farben. Herzlichen Dank Rini!!
